Exploring History Through Primary Sources Set (Grades 5 & Up)
Use original documents and photographs as well as letters, maps, cartoons, and posters to help students explore the past. Primary sources provide unique insight into the lives of people in different time periods. This set includes the following 21 Primary Source kits: Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Ancienct Mesopotamia, Ancient Rome, Civil Rights Movement, Civil War, Colonial America, Constitution and New Government, Exploration, Immigration, Industrial Revolution, Medieval Times, Native Americans, The Cold War, The Great Depression, The Holocaust, The Renaissance, Vietnam Conflict, Westward Expansion, World War I Era, and World War II. Each kit includes: 16 photographs and primary source documents--photo cards with background information, discussion questions, and suggested activities printed on the back; CD with photographs, other primary sources student activity sheets, and extension activities; and 80 page Teacher's Guide including lesson plans, background information, a wide variety of student activities, and a document-based assessment section to help students prepare for essays found on many standardized tests. Each kit also meets the NCSS standards for primary source documents. This series has received the 2003 Distinguished Achievement Award from the Association of Educational Publishers EdPress.
