Catalan artist Joan Miro’s surrealist work was some of the most original and imaginative of the 20th Century. One of his favorite authors was Alfred Jarry, who wrote “Ubu Roi” in 1896 as a surrealist interpretation of Shakespeare’s MacBeth. It follows the life of Pere Ubu as he murders a royal family, ascends to power, and flees into exile. In three of his most famous paintings, Miro illustrates the plot of “Ubu Roi” in bold, unusual colors. This 1000 piece puzzle is a replica of one of those paintings.
