Laure, the pseudonym of Colettle Laure Lucienne Peignot, was a journalist and poet who wrote for La Critique sociale. At 31, she began an intense affair with Georges Bataille and was dedicated to many of the same rebellious aesthetic, political, and philosophical causes. Four years later she died of tuberculosis.
