Little Women is the story of the four March sisters. Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy. Whether they are putting on plays, forming the Pickwick Club or entertaining Laurie, the lonely boy next door, the sisters and their mother play and work together to maintain an interesting and fun household while their father is away at war. Drawing on her own childhood, Louisa May Alcott created a story full of warmth and love, perfect for anyone who wants to savor the transformation from childhood to adulthood.

Guide to Cartooning by Al Bohl

Guide to Cartooning by Al Bohl
From the history of cartooning, to how to draw, to how to find a job, this book has it all. A practical step-by-step guide for anyone interested in cartooning art, it contains hundreds of original drawings in all styles to illustrate the instructions. Nine chapters cover drawing fundamentals, animation, greeting cards, illustration, humor writing and cartooning, gags, editorial and political cartooning, caricature, comic books, and comic strips. Each chapter includes information on careers in that area. The book also offers a resource list of recommended art schools, correspondence instruction, helpful books, videos, periodicals, and supply companies. The chapters end with questions and exercises and a separate teacher's guide is being published so that the book may be used as a text in high-school or college classes. However, the teacher's guide is not necessary for the non-student reader. Al Bohl is an illustrator, author, and instructor. His thorough knowledge of the many different styles of cartooning makes him an expert on the subject. He has designed book covers for and written or illustrated nearly fifty books. He teaches cartooning as an adjunct professor at Louisiana State University in Shreveport. He is cofounder and president of the Ark-La-Tex Cartoonist Society and lives in Bossier City, Louisiana.
