The Woods, Lakeboat, Edmond by David Mamet

The Woods, Lakeboat, Edmond by David Mamet
This book collects three of Mamet`s plays from the late 1970s and early 1980s. In The Woods, a couple spending a night at a house in the country push their relationship to the breaking point in a night of stories and fights only to rediscover their need for one another in the morning. The Woods was first produced by the St. Nicholas Theater Company in Chicago in November, 1977. The Lakeboat captures the banter between the crew on a merchant ship in 28 brief scenes; it premiered at Marlboro College in Vermont in 1970 and then remained out of production until 1979 when it was picked up by the Milwaukee Repertory Theater and produced in April, 1980. In Edmond, the title character feels trapped in his marriage, so he flees and soon finds himself in over his head in a violent, sex-charged, and racially combative demimonde. As his life falls apart more and more completely, however, it finally begins to make sense to him.
